Velma’s four items — answered
Everything in one place, in your order, with the pictures. Nothing here needs hunting for and nothing is counted as finished until you say so.
Every answer below refers to this video. Each orange button jumps this player straight to the moment in question — no scrubbing.
1The puddle at the front door
DONE — live now. Introduction video, 0:31.
You had identified the real fault: nothing in the frame caused the water. A damp umbrella now leans by the door with wet rain boots on the tile, the unexplained sheen across the open floor is gone, and the water sits tightly around the boots and umbrella — the amount those two things would actually leave.
Left, what was published. Right, what is there now. Lower panels are the same area enlarged.
2The first aid kit on the counter
DONE — live now. Introduction video, 0:36.
It read as nothing in particular because it was a plain white box lying flat, half out of frame, with no wording on it. It is now a single white case, lid standing up to camera, bold green cross, the words FIRST AID in clear capitals, scaled to read at normal playback speed.
Look at the enlarged panel on the left — that is what was published.
3The certificate
READY FOR YOUR CHOICE — two layouts, plus one bigger idea.
“Badge Challenge” is off the certificate entirely. Both layouts place your supplied logo files rather than redrawing anything, and use the official brand colours from the files you sent on 7 August.
Left: classic award. Right: modern. Both carry the same new badge set shown below — the certificate and the Badge Board use one artwork family, not two.
And a proposal, not a decision I have made. Building those made something obvious, so I built it too so you could judge it rather than imagine it. The Badge Board: stop making the certificate the thing a child gets at the end — make it the thing they get on day one. One sheet on the fridge from the first lesson, seven empty slots showing the ghost of each badge, filled in with dates as they are earned. When the seventh lands, the panel at the foot becomes the certificate.
Left: day one. Right: finished. Same sheet. A certificate at the end rewards a child who already finished; a board on the fridge works on the child who has not.
The badge artwork. Seven shapes, seven colour worlds, each a small illustrated scene with a child in it rather than a symbol on a flat field.
4Should the intro still start the Street Smarts badge?
YES — and nothing changed. Introduction video, 1:25 to 1:33.
Spencer’s answer: it should run straight from the introduction into the Street Smarts content, exactly as the original did. Here is that ending as it stands today.
The ending, mocked up with the new badges so you are comparing like with like: badge challenge, then the certificate, then Street Smarts alone as the call to action. The film today still shows your 2018 badges — the moment you approve a direction this sequence is rebuilt to match.
One thing that will look inconsistent
In the badge sequence of the introduction video you will see your original 2018 badges, not the new artwork above. That is deliberate. The new badges are a proposal, and nothing proposed goes into the film until you approve it. The moment you pick a direction, that sequence gets rebuilt to match.
While I was in there I checked your 2018 First Aid badge, because a red cross on it would need replacing across the whole course. It does not have one — it is a red case with lettering and no cross. Nothing to fix.
Replacing two shots inside a finished film also risks knocking the audio out of step with the captions. Rather than assume, I compared the audio before and after and confirmed it is byte-for-byte identical, and held the film to its original length to the millisecond. Josh’s narration and every caption cue are exactly where they were.
