Right. Each message could come from a real friend. The tell is the shape of the whole thing: someone you have never met, spending weeks being interested in a thirteen-year-old. Nobody does that for nothing.
Real friends do that too. That is why it works. You cannot catch this one message at a time. You catch it by stepping back and asking who is putting weeks of effort into talking to you, and what they might want at the end of it.

3Decide
They say: 'saw your post about your mum, that sucks, mine was the same'. What is this line doing?
Right. It may also be kind. But it picks the exact moment you are annoyed at home to make itself the person who understands. That is a job, and it is worth noticing it being done.
Watch what it does, not how it sounds. It chooses the argument you had at home and puts itself on your side of it. The one person who would notice something wrong is the one being made into the enemy. That is not an accident.

Your dial says Fine. Everything about the chat feels good. What do you do with that?
Right. The dial is one check. The Two Questions are the other. Would you be happy telling Mum about this after? If a chat that feels great is one you would not want to show anyone, the dial is not telling you the whole story.
Fine is real. So is the trap. A chat that feels good and that you would not want a parent to read is the one to look at hardest. You do not have to stop. You have to ask the second question.

Someone you have played with for a month says the game chat is rubbish and sends a link to a private app. You reply:
Right. Short, no reason, no opening. A reason gives them something to argue with. ‘I’m good here’ gives them nothing to work on.
Both of those are still conversations. An excuse gets an answer (‘they won’t see it on this app’). A question gets an answer too. The no that works is the one with nothing attached to it.
