6 questions from the 3 lessons in this badge. You need every one right, and you can try as many times as you like.
Step 1 of 6
1Decide
You ask. Which of these replies actually answers the question?
That one. It names a person and puts her in the house. Notice the other two sound just as friendly and tell you nothing. “My mum said yes” means she said yes to you coming. It does not say where she will be.
Read it again. That reply is about whether you are welcome, and you never asked that. You asked who will be home. If the answer does not put a grown-up inside the house, you have not got an answer yet, so ask again.
Pick the right one to carry on.
2Find them
Which of these count as a grown-up being home?
Tap the ones that count.
Find all 3.
3Decide
Somebody locks the door from the outside. Everyone is laughing.
Yes. Say it once, normally: open the door. If it stays shut, say it loud enough that the whole house hears. That is two of the Four Moves in a row, and the joke ends about two seconds after the second one.
Think about what a locked door is. It is somebody else deciding when you can leave, and that is the one thing you do not laugh along with, even when it is funny. Say it. Then be loud. The message to your mum can come after, when the door is open.
Pick the right one to carry on.
4Find them
Which of these are worth mentioning to a parent tonight?
Tap the ones that count.
Find all 4.
5Decide
Passed his test in March. Offers you both a lift to the shop.
Right. The shop is five minutes away and it probably would have been fine. But probably fine is a call a parent gets to make, not one you make on a pavement in ten seconds. Message first. If nobody answers, walk. It is five minutes.
Not in the car. Go back to the Two Questions. Do I have permission? Would I be happy telling Mum about this after? Neither is a yes. The message goes first, from the pavement, and if there is no answer, your feet still work.
Pick the right one to carry on.
6Find them
Which of these does your friend's older brother get to decide for you?
Tap the ones that count.
Only 2 of these.
