The Passwords and Locks Badge Challenge
6 questions from the 3 lessons in this badge. You need every one right, and you can try as many times as you like.
Step 1 of 6
1Decide
Which is the strongest?
Right. Four random words, twenty-three characters, nothing to look up. It is also the only one of the three you could remember without writing it down.
Swapping letters for numbers is the first thing a cracking program tries. A team and a year is a word and a date, and both are guessable from your profile. The four words win on length alone.
Pick the right one to carry on.
2Find them
Which of these belong in a password?
Tap the ones that count.
Find all 3.
3Decide
A code arrives. You did not ask for one. It says 'do not share this code'. What just happened?
Right. The two-step held, which is the point. Now the password is known, so change it tonight, and look at where else you used it.
Apps do not send login codes for no reason. A code means somebody typed your password correctly and got stopped at the second lock. The lock worked; the password did not. Change it.
Pick the right one to carry on.
4Find them
Which of these accounts are worth two-step?
Tap the ones that count.
Find all 4.
5Decide
An account called 'Official Support' says your account is flagged and they need the code just sent to your phone to fix it. You:
Right. The code arrived because they just tried your password. Support did not send it; they did, by trying to log in as you. No reply, new password, and report the account if the app lets you.
Asking them to prove it is still a conversation, and they will have an answer ready. The code on your phone is the second lock working. Nothing that asks you for it is support. Say nothing to them, change the password, move on.
Pick the right one to carry on.
6Find them
Who never needs your code?
Tap the ones that count.
Find all 4.
Badge earned: Passwords and Locks.
