A video call comes in from your dad's account. It looks like him, a bit blurry. He asks you to read out a code that just came to your phone. You:
Right. If it is Dad, the word takes two seconds and he will not mind. If it is not, the word is the one thing they cannot get from his photos. Blocking his real account would make for a bad afternoon.
It looks like him because it was built from him. A code sent to your phone is exactly what a fake would want and exactly what a real dad would never need you to read out. Ask the word. Real people know it.

3Decide
The voice says your mum is hurt and you need to stay on the line. What do you do?
Right. The real information is on the real number. If Mum answers, it was fake. If she does not, you call the next real person, and you are still not on the line with a stranger.
Staying on the line is the only thing they need from you. Even going to find a parent while still connected keeps them in the room. Hang up first. Then call the number you already have. Two minutes, and you know.

5Decide
Somebody sends a faked picture of you to a group chat. Your first message is:
Right. Nothing you type in that chat helps you, and the screenshot and the report are the two things that actually make it go away. Your friends will know it is fake without being told.
Both replies keep you in the chat, and both tell the person who made it that it landed. You do not have to prove it is fake to anyone. Screenshot, leave, report, tell somebody tonight.
