Where does the first offer actually come from?
The bench. One more thing worth knowing: the friend holding it out usually got it from somebody’s older brother or sister, which is why the last lesson and this one are next to each other.
That is the version from posters. It is not the version that happens. Strangers do not need to offer you things, and you would say no to a stranger without thinking. The hard one is the friend, on the bench, mid-sentence, because saying no to a friend feels like something.

Pick the line that works
That one. It is about you, it is short, and the question on the end gives everybody something else to do. Notice it does not explain. Explaining is where a no turns into a debate.
Look at who the line is about. Two of those are about them, and one of them is not a no at all. The line you want says something about you and nothing about them, and then moves on. Nobody argues with, I’m alright.

Same kitchen. He asks a second time.
Same line, same tone. A second ask is a test of whether the first one was real. It was. You do not owe a better answer the second time, and the shrug does more than the words.
The second ask is the actual offer. The first one was just checking. Giving in now teaches everybody that you say no once. Explaining now turns it into a discussion you did not want. Same line, same shrug, crisps.

Your mate says calling will get her in trouble.
Call, and stay. One more thing: put the phone on speaker and set it down, so both hands are free for whatever they ask you to do. They will keep talking to you until somebody arrives.
Twenty minutes is what the person on the phone is there to use properly. Somebody who will not wake up does not get better by being left, and moving her is not a plan, it is a way of not calling. Her mum will be angry about the party. She would be a lot more than angry about the alternative.
