- Almost every one of the six has an answer.
- That question is what turns first aid into accident prevention, which is the next badge.

One
Head injury, unconscious
Nadia climbs on the kitchen counter to reach the peanut butter, slips, and hits her head on the floor. Her brother Mohamed is the first aider.
Two
Allergic reaction
Rita and Gloria are eating lunch and Gloria has an allergic reaction. Rita is the first aider.
Three
Possible poisoning
Harpreet has a headache and takes a few of her father’s headache tablets. She feels sick and starts being sick. Harpreet is the first aider for herself.
Four
Bleeding, off a skateboard
A boy comes off his skateboard and has a gash that is bleeding. You are the first aider.
Five
Nosebleed
Dawson has been picking his nose too deeply and it starts to bleed. Dawson is the first aider.
Six
Injured arm
Lucy collides with another cyclist and goes down. She is holding her arm and crying with pain. The other cyclist is the first aider.
Three of those are a parent call and three are a 911 call. Work out which before you look at the Badge Challenge, because two of them are less obvious than they seem.

Step 1 — Six, from the classroom. Six situation cards fanning out one after another as illustrated vignettes, each held only a second: a fall in a kitchen, an allergic reaction, a burn, a nosebleed, a bad cut, somebody who will not wake up. Illustrated and non-graphic throughout — nobody is shown injured in detail.
Step 2 — How could this have been prevented?. A rewind on one of the six: a child climbing onto a kitchen counter to reach a high shelf, running backwards to the moment before — and then the same shelf with the jar moved down to reach. The fix, not the fall.
