Out of sight until the door
- The last thirty seconds of the walk home are the ones worth being deliberate about — it is the only part where you stop moving.
- Not on a string around your neck where anybody can see it. Not swinging in your hand for the last two streets.
- Inside a pocket, or inside your collar, until you are at the door.

The same safe spot, every time
- Same place, every single time. Not because you are forgetful.
- A routine means you notice the moment something is not where it should be.
- Take the key out of the door. Left in the lock is the most common way a key is lost.

The backup plan, and the code
- Decide today: who you call, where the spare is, whose house you go to.
- If you use a code instead of a key, the code is yours and your family’s — not your best friend’s, not the person walking home with you.
- Cover the keypad the way you would cover a bank machine.
- And once you are inside: lock the door behind you. That is the first lesson of the next badge, and the most important thing in the whole course.

Step 1 — The key. Theo draws his key from inside his collar as he reaches the door, glancing back down the empty street. It was never visible before that moment.
Step 2 — The tag. Close on a keyring with a luggage tag: a street address is written on it. A hand turns it over, then swaps it for a blank one. No faces, no location detail that reads as a real address.
Step 3 — Same pocket, three afternoons. The same child, the same inside pocket, three afternoons cut together — different weather, same movement. Ends with a hand that finds the key without looking down.
Step 4 — No key. A child at their own door, patting pockets, no key. No panic. Cut to them walking to a named neighbor’s house and a parent picking up the phone. The point is that the decision was already made.
