What You Get

Digital copy of the Red Cross Babysitting Manual during the course. A hard-copy manual and your child’s certificate are mailed upon completion.

Requirements

A device that supports Zoom with audio and video, high-speed internet, and a quiet space to participate. A doll or stuffed animal for hands-on practice.

Age-Appropriate Learning

For 11 Year Olds

Our babysitting course for 11 year olds introduces younger participants to the responsibilities of caring for children. These classes focus on building safety awareness, confidence, and responsibility through age-appropriate lessons and interactive activities. Students learn how to prevent accidents, recognize potential risks, and understand how to respond when supervising younger children.

For 12 Year Olds

Our babysitting course for 12 year olds helps young teens develop the confidence and practical skills needed to care for younger children responsibly. At this age, many participants are beginning to babysit siblings, relatives, or neighborhood children. Through engaging training, students learn how to create safe environments, communicate effectively with parents, and handle common situations.

For 13-15 Year Olds

Older participants dive deeper into leadership, business skills, and advanced childcare techniques. They learn how to manage multiple children, handle bedtime routines, prepare simple meals, and build a babysitting business. The course also covers more advanced first aid scenarios and emergency response.

Important Safety Note

It is not safe for young teens to advertise their babysitting services through flyers or online platforms like Kijiji. Youth should only provide babysitting services for people they know: friends, neighbours, and family. We cover safe ways to find babysitting opportunities during the course.
