At Home Safety

The whole At Home Safety module, running in the SOS player. Every screen is the original artwork and the original narration, rebuilt from the course package – nothing re-recorded, nothing redrawn by hand. Six of Brandon’s own films are used exactly as they were shot. Pause, scrub, go back, and it fits a phone.

What changed on the way in – all reversible

  • The challenge questions come before the congratulations. In the package they sit in a separate scene after it, because the old player jumped into that scene by name.
  • The answers came off the picture. The five challenge screens were published with their four answers printed on the artwork. The room, the question and the progress dots are untouched; only the answer text and its tick boxes are lifted out, so the player can draw real buttons, read them aloud, and so a change of wording is a text edit rather than a re-render.
  • The routine steps are screens of their own. Each revealed step of Arriving Home, Leaving Home and the Safe Snacking rules lived on a hidden layer with its own recording, and none of it played on the main timeline. It is all here now.
  • The answers and the feedback are hers, not ours. Unlike Badge 6, nothing on this page is a draft written here: the correct answers were read out of the package itself and every explanation you hear is her own 2017 recording.

Still to do

  • Rachel’s new step 3. Her revision adds a sixth arriving-home step – “take a good whiff, does your house smell like home?” – between unlocking and locking the door. The original wheel has five icons and no recording for a sixth. Needs new artwork and a voice.
  • Click-the-icon is still Continue. The routines and the fridge play as screens rather than as something the child clicks. That wants one new player control, which is the same control Badge 7’s hazard hunts need.
  • The choking scenario Rachel describes at 1.70, and her sixth challenge question about friends at the door, are new material that is not in the package.
