The Getting There and Back Badge Challenge

6 questions from the 3 lessons in this badge. You need every one right, and you can try as many times as you like.

Step 1 of 6

1Decide

Two stops in, you realise the bus is going the wrong way.

Right. The next stop is a known place with a sign and a return stop across the road. You are ten minutes late, not lost. The message home is not asking permission. It is so the person waiting is not waiting in the wrong place.
Nearly. Off now and walking turns a small problem into being on foot somewhere you do not know. Staying on could be a forty-minute loop, or the depot. The fix is the next stop, the same number back, and a message so whoever is expecting you knows the new time.

Pick the right one to carry on.

2Find them

Which of these go in your plan before you leave?

Tap the ones that count.

Find all 5.

3Decide

Mum is twenty minutes late, not answering. A friend's dad offers a lift.

Right. Nothing here says he is not being kind. It says the plan changed and you heard it from the wrong person. Inside, near staff, ringing the backup, is a boring ten minutes. That is exactly what you want it to be.
Knowing him is not the test. The test is whether the change came through a parent. Texting from the car is telling, not asking, and you are already gone. Back inside, second number, wait where they know you are. If he is right, your mum will say so, and you have lost five minutes.

Pick the right one to carry on.

4Find them

Which of these are a good place to wait?

Tap the ones that count.

Find all 3.

5Decide

You want to leave. Your friend says everyone will notice.

Right. “My mum is picking me up” is a complete sentence, and nobody has ever argued with it successfully. Wait where an adult you know is, or by the door. Not in the room you wanted out of.
Think about which one is actually the risk. Another hour is another hour of the thing you wanted to leave. Walking alone at night from a place that felt wrong swaps one problem for a new one. The text is what the plan is for. Use it.

Pick the right one to carry on.

6Find them

Which of these are good enough reasons to send the text?

Tap the ones that count.

Find all 4.
