1Decide
Which one does the driver see first?
Right. The light gets seen first; the moving reflectors say “bicycle” before the driver has worked anything else out. Light clothes help a little. They are not a light.
Have another look. A white t-shirt is better than black and still nothing like a light. From 50 metres at dusk it is a pale smudge. The rear light and the moving ankle reflectors are the only things that get noticed early enough to matter.

3Decide
Wet road, a downhill bend, a metal cover in the middle of it.
Right. Speed gone before the lean. Hands off the brakes in the bend. Go round the cover if you can and straight over it if you cannot, upright, not braking, not turning.
Braking in the bend is the one that puts you down. You are already spending grip on turning. Add braking and the tyre lets go, and on a metal cover it lets go instantly. Slow first, in a straight line. Then turn.

5Decide
Car ahead slows, right indicator on. You are in the bike lane beside it.
Right. Right of way is a thing you find out about afterwards. The driver is looking at the road they are turning into, not the mirror. Two seconds of your time, and it is over.
This is the classic one. The car turns across a bike that was beside it, in the bike lane, doing nothing wrong. Being right does not help. Slow so that it turns in front of you, not into you. Whatever the paint says.
