1Decide
The bus is pulling in. Where are you?
Right. Buses swing in, and the back end swings wider than the front. A step back from the kerb means none of that involves you. You move when the doors open, not before.
Back from the kerb. A bus is long, and the back of it comes closer to the kerb than the front does. Walking along the edge towards the door is guessing where the door will stop. Stand back, let it stop, then walk to the door.

3Decide
The message says mum is stuck, go with him. What do you do?
Right. You ring the number you already have, not the one that just messaged you, and you wait inside with staff until you hear. If mum says yes, fine, two minutes lost. If mum says what message, you have just found out something important from a doorway instead of a back seat.
Not the message. Replying asks the person who sent the text whether the text is true, which is not a check. Going because you know him means the list has a hole in it that anybody can walk through. Ring your parent on their real number and wait inside until you hear back.

5Decide
Your neighbour says your dad asked her to collect you. She does not know the word. Now what?
Right. She will not mind. If she is genuinely doing your dad a favour, she will wait two minutes while you ring, and next time he will remember to tell her the word. The word is not about her. It is about the rule being the same for everybody.
The word is the check. Living next door is not the word. A clue is you doing the work for them, which is the opposite of a check. Stand back, ring your dad on his real number, and go only when he says the plan changed.
