The With a Younger One Badge Challenge

6 questions from the 3 lessons in this badge. You need every one right, and you can try as many times as you like.

Step 1 of 6

1Decide

Your little brother will not stop kicking the back door.

Message, and keep an eye on the door. The door is yours: it stays locked and it stays whole. Him being told off is not yours, and a parent can do it by phone in ten seconds with more effect than you can in ten minutes.
Sort it into mine and not mine. Sending him to his room is being a parent, and you are not one. Ignoring it walks away from the door, and the door is yours. The move is: watch the door, message a parent, let them do the telling.

Pick the right one to carry on.

2Find them

Which of these are yours?

Tap the ones that count.

Find all 4.

3Decide

She is shouting. You are about to shout back.

Step apart. It is not losing. It is the rule you both agreed on a calm morning, and saying so out loud reminds her of that too. Ten minutes is long enough for both dials to come down.
Shouting louder is a contest she can always enter. Giving in works once and teaches her that shouting works, which makes tomorrow’s row louder. Stepping apart teaches both of you that waiting works, and it is the only one of the three that gets shorter with practice.

Pick the right one to carry on.

4Find them

Which of these are a message to a parent, not a fight?

Tap the ones that count.

Find all 4.

5Decide

He has come off his bike on the drive. Crying, holding his arm, but talking.

Stay, call, do not move him. He is talking, so you know he is breathing and awake, and that is what you tell the operator. The drive is not dangerous, so he stays where he landed until somebody who knows says otherwise.
Two of these are you deciding, and deciding is the thing the rule takes away. Carrying him in moves an arm that might be broken. Waiting to see is judging how bad it is. Sit down next to him, call, and let somebody else judge.

Pick the right one to carry on.

6Find them

When do you move them?

Tap the ones that count.

Find all 4.
