Module 1 — Street Smarts (Course Content)

Course content recovered from the SCORM package MODULE_1_-_STREET_SMARTS_LMS_TEST.zip (Articulate Storyline, built 2017).

The course runs 14 screens: an opening, a badge introduction, a teaching section with five safety messages, a video check, a seven-question quiz, and a congratulations screen. One printable handout is included.

The five safety messages

These are the core teaching content. On screen they appear as pop-up cards the learner clicks through one at a time. The wording below was read off the images, since the text is part of the artwork rather than stored as text.

1. Avoid Strangers

Never talk to strangers. Never take anything from a stranger. Never go anywhere with a stranger. If a stranger approaches you, run away and tell a trusted adult.

2. Be Aware

Pay attention to your surroundings at all times. Never wear headphones or use your phone while walking. Do not stop to pet or play with animals you do not know.

3. Don’t Delay

Go straight home. Do not stop along the way. Your parents or guardians expect you at a certain time — they will worry if you are late.

4. Don’t Take Shortcuts

Always stay on your planned route. Never cut through alleys, empty lots, parks, or wooded areas, even if it seems faster.

5. Follow the Rules of the Road

Cross only at crosswalks and traffic lights. Look left, right, then left again. Make eye contact with drivers before you step out. Obey all signs and signals.

The quiz — 7 questions

Each question is answered Yes or No. The learner gets a congratulating response when correct and a nudge to retry when wrong.

SECTION 2 — MAP OUT YOUR ROUTE

In the space below, draw a map or list the street names of the route you follow when going home or going to school. SHARE this route with your family and be sure to follow this route EVERY TiME you are heading or leaving home. NOTE: Let your parents/guardians know in advance if you have to change your route home for ANY reason.

The handout is headed “SECTION 2”, which suggests it came from a larger printed workbook. The typo “EVERY TiME” is in the original.

Notes on the package

Built in Flash. The package contains 102 .swf files. Flash has been dead since 2020 and no browser will run them. There are matching .png fallbacks for mobile, so the visuals survive, but anything that depended on Flash for interactivity will not work as-is.

Text is baked into pictures. Almost none of the on-screen wording is real text — it is part of the artwork. That means it cannot be searched, translated, resized, or read by a screen reader. Rebuilding this content elsewhere means retyping it, which is what this document is for.

There is narration. 70 audio files and 1 video are included, but no transcripts were provided in the package. The spoken wording is not captured here.

Quiz answers are not stored as a key. The package does not record which button is correct in a readable form, so the answers below were worked out from which feedback message is the congratulating one. Worth a second pair of eyes before reuse:
